We have a lot of important dates for next Spring and a few random bits:
- We need a venue for our pre-season party (Sun March 8, details below). If anyone is a proprietor of a restaurant or some other establishment were we could have our party please let me know ASAP. If anyone else knows of a good venue that we could use at little or no cost please let us know too.
- Next season we will formally implement the no playing in multiple division rule. We’ve always had this formal policy but have allowed exceptions to a few players who have helped struggling teams in lower leagues. These have become too difficult to manage and we will no longer be granting exemptions. Starting in Spring of 2010, you may only play in one division. Please note you can play for any team in your division, see the Rules for more details.
- We are looking for more Field Marshals. Marshals help keep games moving along and resolve issues outside of the Refs domain. If you are interested please email me (Johnny). Please note there is a screening process for Marshals. Marshals, like all volunteers, play for free.
- We are adding a late fee this Spring. Starting in Spring 2010, once registration has closed you will be charged $10 for a late registration. Every season we have an increasing number of people who can’t sign up on time, and it creates an inordinate amount of work for the League Coordinators and Refs (who have to continually update their rosters).
- Next season we are hoping to use both FSHS and LHS! Thanks to everyone for treating FSHS so exceptionally.
Important dates for this Spring:
Monday January 25, 6.30pm at United Way Bldg: We will have our first annual Board meeting. This used to be our budget meeting but our official business at this meeting will be any issues our members want to bring up. We want to discuss player and team issues at the pre-season party; however, all issues related to how LASL is run, information on costs, or ideas for the future should be aired here. All members of the public are welcome to attend this meeting.

Sunday March 7, time and location TBA: We will hold our first pre-season party at a location and time to be decided. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Medals will be handed out to the top two teams in Premier and Club. We strongly encourage everyone–refs, players, new players, etc–to attend. We want these pre-season parties to be a chance for players to get to know each other better off the field and air any concerns and complaints. We currently don’t have an easy way to get feedback from y’all. We want to hear your concerns!
Sunday March 21: First game!
The other game dates this season are: 4/4, 4/11, 4/17 (Premier and Club only), 4/18, 4/24 (Premier and Club only), 4/25, 5/2, and 5/9. The Premier tourney will be on 5/15.
More info to come this month!
Thx.

I suggest the names of the Divisions be changed to Gold, Silver, and Bronze.
The terms Premier, Club and Rec originate from Youth soccer. They don’t directly map onto adult soccer, and they can cause confusion in casual conversation.
