The board’s received a few questions about the upcoming soccer seasons, so I wanted to answer them here too.
This season is our first so we are going to be very flexible. Also, registration closes in a week and the first match is a week from Saturday, please sign up asap!
– Divisions. Summer soccer should be about learning, exercise, and fun. Ideally every summer scrimmage would end 11-10. Lots of scoring, lots of touches, some good defense, and an even match. If we have 8 teams we will break teams into A and B groups. If we have 4 or 6 teams we’ll probably have Captains pick their own opponents. Regardless, we’ll have one big session at the first summer scrimmage where we assemble everyone into teams. As of right now, there are enough for 4 teams signed up, and probably 10 team names in there. :)
– Match times. If 40 minutes proves to be too long, we’ll roll it back. Or switch to quarters. Or we can all carry sticks and switch to periods. Goalies would get two. We’re flexible on this. My guess is some teams will want shorter and some will want the full 40. We’ll figure it out on the first day, and both Captains can always ask the Ref to shorten if need be.
– Team placement. You don’t need to sign up w/a team. We’ll draw up teams before and on the first day. If you want to play w/friend(s), put the same team name and we can lump it together.
If you have any other questions please email our new Summer Coordinator, Erik Martinez, dtcircmansearch@hotmail.com.
