Premier Rules
We are fortunate to have well-trained referees for our games. The referees decisions are final! Arguing with the referees, foul language and poor sportsmanship will not be tolerated. All players please read the following rules and agree to abide by them. This will help to ensure that the games remain fun for all.
LASL leagues play using modified FIFA rules which can be found at http://www.soccerhelp.com/Soccer_Rules_Rules_Of_Soccer.shtml. Deviations from FIFA rules are summarized on this page.
A team may substitute players in the following situations:
- own throw-in
- goal kick (either team)
- kick-off (either team)
- penalty kick (either team)
- injury stoppage (injured player only)
Proper soccer attire is required; shin guards covered with socks or fabric are mandatory. Soccer shoes are not required, but shoes cannot have dangerous cleats, such as baseball and football shoes. Jewelry or clothing with metal rivets are not allowed.
Slide tackles are permitted.
Team captains must wear captain arm bands. Players must be in matching colored numbered jerseys.
Players may be male or female. There are no special rules accommodating women.
All games should start at the scheduled time. Teams not ready to commence the game shall, after fifteen minutes delay, abandon the game to the opposing team.
Teams are encouraged to “share players” if one team is short so that those who show up get the chance to play and that each team has about the same number of players on the field during the game. If one team is several players short and recruits players from the other team this game will be deamed a “friendly”. Referees are not obligated to officiate a “friendly” game.
You may not recruit players from other leagues – you are signed up for a specific league and must play within that league. Premier players may not play or substitute into the Club or Recreational leagues.
All decisions by the referee will be absolutely final.
This division is intended for players 18 years or older wishing to play competitive soccer. Games last 90 minutes with a 15 minute half time break. Cancelled games will be made up the second Saturday following the rainout date with the same game times as listed on that cancelled Sunday.
No new players may be added to the team roster during play-offs.
All players must have a current photo identification card.
Each team will field 11 players including the goalie: a maximum of 18 players can suit up but roster may contain more players. All games will be played with a minimum of seven players per team on the field, including goalie.
Players, coaches, referees and team representatives are expected to display mutual respect for each other as individuals, and respect their positions and responsibilities. Discourtesy and violent conduct will not be tolerated and may result in ejection of a player from the game or from the league.
Players who feel that they have been unfairly treated by a player on the opposing team or by the referee may lodge a complaint to their team captain who will relay the complaint to the referee. Players may not approach the referee or members of the other team directly with their grievances.
A red card carries an automatic suspension of one game. Additional penalties may be possible as determined by the LASL Board. A second red card within a season may result in suspension from the league for the duration of the season. Fees will not be refunded.
Appeals are only accepted if made in writing within 3 days of the infraction, with a ten dollar fee, and send to the Commissioner of the League. An Appeals Committee will make the final decision. The appeal fee will be refunded only when the appeal is granted.
Each player must have signed the registration/waiver of liability form before play. Each team captain will furnish the referee with a list of players and shirt numbers before the game begins.
The LASL by-laws describe the various penalties that will be enforced should players exhibit inappropriate conduct. A complete set of the LASL by-laws will be furnished to each team captain/organizer and should be made available for player consultation. It is the responsibility of each player to be familiar with the by-laws.
Standings are determined as follows.
- Three (3) points to the winning team,
- One (1) point to each team each in case of ties, and
- In case of a tie in points between two teams at the end of any season, the winner of any head-to-head meeting will be the
champion. - FORFEITS - A team that forfeits without 24 hours prior notice to league organizer will have an automatic 3 point deduction from their point total.
It is a measure of common courtesy to give advance notice to the opposing team and the referees. - All other standings will be based on goal
difference (goals scored minus goals allowed), in case of a tie.
