Rules
We are fortunate to have well-trained referees for our games. The referees decisions are final! Arguing with the referees, foul language and poor sportsmanship will not be tolerated. All players please read the following rules and agree to abide by them. This will help to ensure that the games remain fun for all.
LASL leagues play using modified FIFA rules which can be found at http://www.soccerhelp.com/Soccer_Rules_Rules_Of_Soccer.shtml. Deviations from FIFA rules are summarized on this page.
Teams will be 9 v 9 with a minimum of 11 players per team. A minimum of 6 players is required to start a game.
A team may substitute players freely at any dead ball situation.
Proper soccer attire is required; shin guards covered with socks or fabric are mandatory. Soccer shoes are not required, but shoes cannot have dangerous cleats, such as baseball and football shoes. Jewelry or clothing with metal rivets are not allowed.
Slide tackles are not permitted. Players may not play the ball on the ground and non-incidental contact should be kept to a minimum.
Players must be in matching colored jerseys.
Players may be male or female. Each team must have at least three women on their roster.
All games should start at the scheduled time. Teams not ready to commence the game shall, after fifteen minutes delay, forfeit the game to the opposing team.
Teams are encouraged to “share players” if one team is short so that those who show up get the chance to play and that each team has about the same number of players on the field during the game. If one team is several players short and recruits players from the other team this game will be deamed a “friendly”. Referees are not obligated to officiate a “friendly” game.
You may not recruit players from other leagues – you are signed up for a specific league and must play within that league. Recreational players may not play or substitute into the Premier or Club leagues.
Upon consultation between the team captain and the referee after a player has lodged a complaint, the referee may see fit to talk with the parties involved, to issue a caution to one or more players or to implement some form of disciplinary action. All decisions by the referee will be absolutely final.
Games last 80 minutes with a 15 minute half time break.
Players, coaches, referees and team representatives are expected to display mutual respect for each other as individuals, and respect their positions and responsibilities. Discourtesy and violent conduct will not be tolerated and may result in ejection of a player from the game or from the league.
Players who feel that they have been unfairly treated by a player on the opposing team or by the referee may lodge a complaint to their team captain who will relay the complaint to the referee. Players may not approach the referee or members of the other team directly with their grievances.
A red card carries an automatic suspension of one game. Additional penalties may be possible as determined by the LASL Board.
Each player must have signed the registration/waiver of liability form before play.
