Background

Welcome to my online journal, Whatta Fiasco (formerly Fresh Squeezed!). On October 15, 1998, I started this journal as an excercise in writing. I also journal on paper but that's a messy, haphazard affair for me. Putting my writing online, originally five but now six days a week, has imposed a little order on the process, as well as giving my friends a way to peek into my life and my head.

Is it strange to have friends and strangers reading about me? Yes, it is, but I don't write things here that I'm not willing to have read. I write a fair amount about my friends and family but I use a lot of pseudonyms, most of which are listed in the glossary. Although I write about other people, I write about them in relation to my life. This journal is about me. Hopefully it's also something that you can enjoy reading.

So, a little bit about me. My name is Samantha Herdman, although I'm usually known online as fiasco. I'm in my thirties, married with two teenaged stepkids who live with us part of the time. I live in northeastern Kansas and have for about twenty years now, although I was a Navy brat growing up and lived quite a few other places. During the week I work as a programmer doing a little bit of everything in a large corporate shop. When I'm not at work I read a lot and do some writing.

I normally update this journal Monday through Saturday, usually sometime in the afternoon. Some of my entries read more like diary entries while others seem to have little to do with what happened to me that day. It just depends on what I feel like writing. It's my journal so I get to make the rules but your comments are always welcome.
