Chicken Rug
I am designing a series of six rugs with folk art style farm animals. The photo shows the first one in progress.
Since I am using fabric on hand I am slightly limited in colors but I find this an interesting challange.
This 22 ½ by 36 inch Chicken rug was done in Australian locker hooking with strips of old T shirts and sweatshirts as the filling.
I have decided to paint the design on the canvas with acrylic paint before hooking the next one.
This will be easier to see then the drawn lines I used on this one. It will also keep the white of the canvas from showing through on any small areas where the filling is slightly thinner.
I find the fabric strips harder to use then the wool roving was on the earlier rugs.
This shows the rug before I filled in the background.
